Five Favorites

I thought it would be fun to share five things that I'm loving - favorites that are either new finds or tried and true oldies. As a means to sort of introduce myself and any new products you may not even know you're in the market for.









1. I love Teeccino herbal coffee. If you have followed along on Instagram, or maybe even my Facebook page for any amount of time you have probably seen numerous photos of my Teeccino and Silk Dairy-Free Soy Creamer. It's the best snack, dessert, treat--you name it. I'm in love. One day I believe I'll write a post on my favorite homemade teas, which saves a lot of time and money if you are a regular Starbucks patron.

2. My favorite color is mauve. I also like eggplant. Any dusty tones of purple are just lovely to me. These are followed closely by seafoam green and teals. Mmmm.

4. Favorite TV show of all time: Murder, She Wrote. I've seen every episode numerous times and I will never tire of it. I love Angela Lansbury.

5. I recently found this candle at Hobby Lobby and it may be my favorite candle I've ever smelled. It's so light and fresh and heavenly and I would like an entire case, please.

So, one of the ways we work our grocery budget is by buying proteins in bulk at Costco. Their Kirkland's Smoked Pulled Pork is a little strong in the smoke flavoring, but we've found several recipes that could not be easier and provide a variety of flavors and dishes to get us through a week or so. Without further ado, here they are. The first, and easiest, dish is to just heat up a helping of pork, roast some veggies, and serve the whole thing with BBQ sauce. The pork comes fully cooked, so all you have to do is heat it. The photo above is the pork simply heated. We actually do prefer to cook it further in the other dishes, but this is easy and good, too. Follow Up

So, my last post was about my thoughts on the upcoming new year, 2019. Actually, my last post contained several recipe ideas for pork. But seeing as we are now two months into that new year, I thought it appropriate to follow up on the effects of the word "sanctuary" as my focus for 2019. I always go through a slump after the holidays. I'll be honest, I hate and dread that time of the year. January seems so hard and daunting and I just want to shut my eyes and get it over with. While I entered this year more hopeful than last, January did not disappoint. And by that, I mean it was quite the same as in years past. I entered my routine funk and slowly crawled out of it as February approached and then something quite miraculous happened. 2020 Focus

I shared in this post last year that my "resolution" for each new year looks more like just one word, sort of like picking an area of my life that could use improvement or identifying something I find lacking and attempting to better incorporate that in my daily life throughout the year. For 2020, I have landed on the word "focus." Ironically, it wasn't very clear to me this year what my word was supposed to be, so it's taken me a while to organize my thoughts and write this post. Since Maggie has entered our lives, I have felt more scattered than ever before. It's been wonderful and my artsy brain secretly loves the lack of structure, but I find myself constantly wasting precious time, overly relying on my phone, unable to tackle the seemingly endless to do list that exists solely in my head.
